A Community That Helps Our Children Thrive

As we reach the end of another rich and rewarding term, I am reminded once again that a school is far more than its classrooms and buildings. It is a community of people who give generously of their time, energy, expertise and care to help children and young people flourish. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our staff, families, students, volunteers, alumni and friends of the school for all that you contribute to Glenaeon.

This spirit was evident at our recent Primary Open Day, where we welcomed more than 100 prospective families to experience the warmth and vitality of our school. Thank you to the many staff and current parents who so willingly shared their experiences and helped visitors gain a genuine sense of our community. It was also a wonderful opportunity to speak about our approach and the value of a screen-free primary education, which continues to resonate strongly with families seeking a childhood grounded in relationships, imagination and real-world experience.

Community and connection were also at the heart of Saturday's Glen X Alumni Reunion. It was a joy to welcome over 70 Glenaeon alumni back to campus and hear reflections on the enduring impact of their time here. Stories of belonging, meaningful relationships and the influence of both place and people in shaping meaningful lives served as a powerful reminder of the lasting contribution a school community can make.

Throughout the term, we have also been privileged to celebrate the passions and initiatives of our staff. A particular highlight was Bee Day, led by Jamie, our Class 5 teacher, who shared his expertise and enthusiasm through a series of workshops and activities for students from Classes 1 to 8. The curiosity, engagement and joy generated throughout the day demonstrated the richness that emerges when educators bring their interests and talents into the life of the school.

Last week also saw our community come together to honour the memory and legacy of our dear friend and colleague, Jonas Stoebe. We are deeply grateful to our Year 11 Sports Captains, Finn, Emily and Lenny, for their leadership in organising Laps for Jonas. The sight of students and staff making their way up and down the Middle Cove driveway was a moving expression of remembrance, gratitude and shared purpose, and a fitting tribute to someone who touched so many lives.

Finally, our Small Group Tours and have continued to provide valuable opportunities to welcome prospective families and students into our school. Walking our campus together, meeting our people and experiencing the unique character of the environment often reveals something that is difficult to capture in words. It is in the spaces, the relationships and the daily interactions that the true spirit of Glenaeon becomes visible.

As the term concludes, I offer my sincere thanks to everyone who contributes to the life of our school. It is through our collective efforts, care and commitment that we create a place where children and young people can grow with confidence, curiosity and a strong sense of belonging.

I wish all members of our community a wonderful holiday break ahead. May it be a time of rest, renewal and relaxation, spent with those who matter most. We look forward to welcoming you back next term refreshed and ready for the opportunities that lie ahead.
