School Sport

At the foundational level, Glenaeon offers a broad and inclusive school sports program where students can develop fundamental skills, teamwork, and a love of physical activity across a wide range of sports.

Talented and motivated athletes are encouraged to join Glenaeon teams for ISD Tournaments across a range of sports including Basketball, Touch Football, Soccer, Netball and Volleyball.

In individual carnival sports, students can represent at Triathlon, Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country. In each of these sports, success at the interschool level can lead to selection in an ISD team, which provides students with the opportunity to compete with and against other dedicated athletes from a broader collection of independent schools across Sydney, raising the level of competition and exposing athletes to higher performance standards.

From this platform, standout performers may be selected to progress to CIS representation. Competing at CIS level places students among the top independent school athletes in the state. This is a significant step in the athlete pathway, as CIS teams compete at state-level championships, against athletes from other school systems such as public and Catholic sectors and with the opportunity for progression to national representation.

There is a wealth of opportunities for students to compete in a huge variety of sports under the CIS umbrella, but also in school invitational events ranging from traditional sports to developing sports. Genuine opportunities are available for Glenaeon students to pursue sporting excellence. Importantly, the experience gained through this system fosters resilience, discipline, and personal growth qualities that benefit students in all areas of life, not just sport.

Students are supported by dedicated coaches and staff who emphasise sportsmanship, respect, and wellbeing alongside achievement. Whether a student’s goal is to enjoy sport socially, to develop existing skills or to showcase at an elite level, the ISD and CIS pathway ensures that every athlete has a clear and supported journey.
