Glenaeon students outdoor learning

Glenaeon Kindergarten Childhood at the centre

These early years are not a race, they are foundation years when children develop the physical strength, imagination, language, social confidence, and inner security that will carry them through their education.

In Steiner education, we understand that young children learn primarily through imitation, movement, sensory experience and play. For this reason, our Kindergartens are warm, homelike environments, held by a steady daily rhythm.

A typical day in Kindergarten

A typical day includes imaginative play, time outdoors, shared meals, circle songs and verses, storytelling, and simple, meaningful work such as cooking, gardening, handwork and craft.

The turning of the seasons is woven through the year, and our beautiful festivals are part of how children come to feel the world as purposeful, alive.

We often hear families say that their children become more grounded and capable through these years because they are supported to grow in the right sequence.

Kindergarten is where children learn to belong, to play deeply, to meet others with kindness, and to take their first steps into independence with confidence.
