The preschool caters for children between 3 and 5 years old. The activities are kept as home-like as possible, recognising that this is often the child's first experience away from home and parents. Slowly we help the children adjust to the social world around them, support them in learning everyday skills such as dressing and washing, and provide plenty of opportunities for joyful movement and play.
The day begins with a long period of free play, using toys made of natural materials with simple forms that leave room for imagination. Playtime is followed by a circle time of verses, nursery rhymes, songs and games. An organic snack, which the children help prepare, is served before the children are led to the playground where they dig, run, jump and explore.
In the natural, rhythmical, and creative environment of the Preschool rogram, children are given the freedom, confidence, independence and security to prepare for the next phase of school life.
The week has its rhythms as well, and seasonal activities such as gathering autumn leaves and planting seeds deepen the childs awareness of and participation in the natural world around them and the cycle of the year.
Our Preschool is a caring community that works in partnership with parents to support the healthy overall development of their child and help foster valuable social skills such as cooperation and intuition.
The Preschool Program is available as either a two day program or a three day program from 9am to 3pm for children aged 3 years to 5 years (children will ideally turn three by January 1 of their first year). The Preschool is a licensed long daycare centre and for those needing longer hours there is an extended service available from 8.30am to 4.30pm. The Centre is open 48 weeks of the year, closing for four weeks in December and January. Please see below for daily rates.
Our fee structure for 2017 is as follows:

As Glenaeon Preschool is an Approved Long Day Care centre, parents can apply to the government for Child Care Assistance to subsidise their fees, even if their child is attending the core programme only. Depending on your income and personal circumstances, you may be eligible for the Child Care Benefit or the Child Care Rebate.
