PDHPE teacher, Jonas Stoebe, writes "For the first time I chose for my Year 10 PE Elective class to do an assessment task as a run, and to register for one of Sydney’s iconic community runs, the 7km Bay Run in the city’s Inner West around the beautiful Iron Cove Bay. Thirteen students rocked up (one being home injured) and two parents too, so we were 16 runners, all in our Glenaeon uniform, looking very good together at the starting line at 8am on Sunday morning. The students had earlier in the year completed a 4 km run here at school and from then on were asked to train and design a training plan to help them with their preparation. On the day it showed who had done their homework and who hadn’t so much.
Hugo Stackhouse, who was very diligent in training, came home after the ever fast and sporty Dylan, who clocked a great time of under 33 minutes, while Hugo came in at just over 33 minutes.
Exhausted but very happy and with proud onlooking parents, this proved to be much more than just an assessment task. With the parent participation and the whole good feel of the place as a local event, it was smiles all around, as no-one had ever participated in a run like this before!!!

What better way to realise one’s potentials and start realising what sport and fitness can contribute to a healthy and balanced life style!"
