Family Fair 2017: Calling All ParentsIt’s Family Fair week, always a big one, and this year promises to be another outstanding community event. We are looking forward to another great weekend, from the Art Show Opening on Friday through the Fair itself on Saturday and the Art Show continuing until Sunday afternoon. There are also Craft classes on Sunday, making this a very full weekend indeed.
I want to take this opportunity in advance to thank Class 4 parents who have put in such enormous efforts already to bring the Family Fair of 2017 to a happy conclusion. Their dedication is a gift of service to the whole community and we are all in their debt. Special thanks to Jacinta Dunn, Fair Coordinator, and to Airlie McConnell, Art Show Coordinator and to Julia Petkovich, Anna and Arthur Street and Stephanie Graham. They each front a behind-the-scenes team of parents who have been working solidly over the past months to get the Art Show and Fair into the excellent shape it is, ready for the Opening this Friday evening.
The Art Show Opening on Friday night will be another wonderful evening of quality art, adult beverages, canapes and conversation. Alumni Annie Laerkesen (GlenX ’86), an established artist will be doing the honours of officially opening the show. This very large undertaking has been the work of a committee led by Airlie McConnell whose labours over many months will bring this inspiring show to us from Friday evening and over all the weekend. Come along and celebrate the opening of both the Art Show and the Fair weekend in very pleasant company and beautiful surroundings.
On Sunday there are Craft classes running through the day for children and adults, so book online and make this a weekend of learning as well as entertainment.
Calling all Parents: we ask that you sign up for a shift and do your part to make the Fair a great success. Please ensure you have your name down on the online sign up spreadsheet, and make sure you are on time and ready for action.
A reminder to Castlecrag parents that classes will finish at 12 noon on Friday ready for set up all afternoon. May the Fair roll on!!
We take so much for granted. It’s the first week of November and like every first week in November, the jacaranda are out. The suburban cul-de-sac that is the entrance to our Middle Cove campus takes on a blue-purple tinge that gives a gentle haze to an already aesthetically pleasing streetscape. I confess to enjoying these weeks particularly: that first look as you turn into Glenroy Avenue gives me a sense of thankfulness for the small beauties of this world.
