TEACHERS OF EXCELLENCE

Currently Glenaeon has about 40 full- and part-time highly qualified teachers, many of whom have been with the school for between one and two decades. While the norm for our staff is a formal teaching qualification and Steiner training, approximately half of our teachers hold, in addition, up to four higher tertiary qualifications.

Annual and biannual in-service training seminars feature local and international speakers, and weekly staff development sessions are held for all staff. Teachers attend international and interstate educational conferences as school representatives, as recipients of international study awards and as valued speakers. In association with Sydney's Parsifal College, Glenaeon works with trainees in an accredited course, the Advanced Diploma of Steiner Education, through which students may gain advanced standing into a Bachelor of Education. These initiatives allow Glenaeon to remain at the forefront of educational practice.

"What you are is of far greater importance than what you know. You must stand in front of your class as a free and moral being, knowing that each of the children that you are privileged to teach, is a unique spiritual individual, involved in an organic process of incarnation and development. And every day you have to bring vital forces of patience and imagination to your task. Every day you see each child anew, for every day he is different from what he was the day before. We cannot "step into the same stream twice". In each of us teachers there lives a being of light and out of this light must come the joy and freshness that makes teaching a labour of love. Without this, no method or principle will be of any use"
