As the autumn leaves go brown on our nature tables and the first wattle flowers begin to bloom, we start to feel the icy breath of King Winter blowing down from the Mountains. The winter gnomes are coming out in the classrooms and the teachers are beginning to make the journey towards our Winter Festival.

The paintings the children painted this week were made into lanterns last night by the grown-ups at Parent Teacher night. The parents also learnt to sing the songs for the lantern walk, heard about the importance of warmth for the growing child and listened to the heart-warming Ukrainian folk tale ‘The Mitten’ told by little kindy teacher Jutta Schulte. Now the lanterns hang in the kindergarten as a reminder to the children of their parents' care as they continue learning the songs, listening to the stories, cooking soup and keeping warm in the winter days of kindergarten.
