Spice Soiree

Do you know your kokam from your cardomom, your star anise from your sumac? If the answer is a sheepish ‘not sure’, its time to dust off your spice rack and come along to Glenaeon’s Spice Soiree with Australia’s king of spice, Ian ‘Herbie’ Hemphill.

Ian was one of the first students to attend Glenaeon’s high school in the late sixties, where the nickname arose, and later went on to establish ‘Herbies’, the one-stop spice store in Rozelle with his wife, Liz, in 1997. Since then Ian has become one of Australia’s most respected and awarded food ambassadors. He’s a prolific cookbook author and radio and TV regular, and with Liz, runs popular spice appreciation classes at Herbies in Rozelle and around Australia.

Ian will take you on a foodie journey at the soiree as he demystifies spices and talks about the influence of Glenaeon on his choice of career.

Come along to Glenaeon’s Castlecrag campus for an evening of drinks, canapés, music and a wonderful conversation with Ian.

Please RSVP with your name to emilyf@glenaeon.nsw.edu.au

Where: Marion Mahony Griffin Hall, 121 Edinburgh Road, Castlecrag
When: 6.30 - 8.30pm, Thursday 7th May 2015
