Our first Parent Education event of 2015 will be held on Friday 6th March at 9.15am and will be presented by Elizabeth Baxendale. The topic will be: Childhood - the most beautiful of all life's seasons.
The beginning of the class teacher period has its own particular magic. Why do we teach what we do in those years? How do we? What do our teachers see as their most important tasks? How can parents and teachers work together? What will we see in our children as they move through these classes towards the ‘Rubicon’ of their 9th year. This first talk will largely focus on the Class one child and the curriculum of the first year of the class teacher period. Elizabeth will bring a picture of aspects of the curriculum and how they meet the developmental needs of the child and how each teacher works to bring experiences to the child’s inner and outer world that support the children’s healthy development. She will also discuss with parents the key themes and activities, the Main Lessons and the methodologies that create the learning experiences and special moments in the first years of school.Elizabeth Baxendale, our Kindergarten and Primary coordinator, will give a series of presentations this year on the curriculum of the early grades.
