The inaugural Glenaeon Language Day was held yesterday and was greatly enjoyed by all! The day began with a Cake Competition, where students baked and decorated cakes at home and brought them in to get points for their team. The cakes were sliced and sold at lunchtime, and all funds raised were donated to the Asylum Seekers Centre in Newtown via the St James’ King Street ‘Who Is My Neighbour?’ group. A selection of German and Japanese dishes were also on sale, and students enjoyed sampling sauerkraut, pretzels, potato salad, curried noodles and more. After lunch students from Classes 3, 5, 6 and the High School performed German and Japanese poems and songs, before the High School students continued the fun with language-specific activities and a cultural Trivia Quiz.
Many thanks go to the teachers who organised this wonderful event, we look forward to sampling the treats next year.
