Year 8 student, Keizo Tomishima, competed in the Australian International Optimist Dinghy Association (AIODA) championships from 3 to 10 January 2019 at the Sandy Bay Sailing Club, Hobart, during the school holidays. The Australian International Optimist Dinghy Association is the national class organisation for Optimist dinghy sailing in Australia.

Keizo came 5th overall against 230 competitors, and is now invited to compete in the optimist dinghy world championship from 6 - 16 July in Antigua (English Harbour). The event involves the top five youth sailors from each country and it is an incredible cultural and sporting event.

The NSW team (including Keizo) came 2nd at Australian Optimist Nationals.
