Glenaeon's final Middle Cove assembly took place
Glenaeon's final Middle Cove assembly took place on the last day of the school year, and several different student groups were acknowledged. Firstly, Andrew Hill paid tribute to the Student Representative Council (SRC) who organise the Glenno Cup every year, and for their involvement and oversight of many student activities this year. Jasper and Mitch talked about the SRC's efforts to reduce waste at the canteen this year, which has seen a drastic reduction in the number of plates and cups being left around the campus.
We congratulated the two winners of the Language Day cake competition, Keira Campbell and Noor Gaibi. We saluted the hard work of students who worked this year with the Language Perfect program, and applauded the many Maths students who competed in the Maths Olympiads throughout the year. Finally, we doffed our caps to those students who achieved their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award this year. Donna Miller, who coordinates the award at Glenaeon told us several other students were working toward their Silver and Gold awards. She also told us that 65% of Glenaeon students complete the Duke of Edinburgh award level they begin, compared to 25% of NSW students. We farewelled some of our teachers, and finally, the Glenno cup was awarded to some pretty happy representatives of Year 9.
