We held a Duke of Edinburgh Qualifying Journey recently, with Year 9 doing their Bronze level award. Two groups of girls walked the Acacia Flats Blue Gum Forest track out from Blackheath, while the boys walked along some of the Six Foot Track from Katoomba.

The students all rose to the challenge, managing the huge number and size of steps in and out of the gully. Because we weren’t at altitude, the evening was not as cold as predicted, which encouraged reasonable sleep by all. It was so beautiful and refreshing to experience the amazing Blue Mountains outside of the warmer months. The environment was so rich in colour and texture, it was truly appreciated by everyone!

Thanks to Scottie and Lowri, and supervisors on the camp, John Tulk and Timmy Trevaskis, for making it all happen and keeping the students safe.
