Class 6 are learning all about reusing the trees lopped on the Middle Cove campus during the holidays, and were seen this week putting their shoulders to the very heavy task of moving this Casuarina tree to the garden to be used to make garden beds. It needed seven students to lift it!
Together with all primary classes plus Year 7, they also worked distributing mulch from another lopped tree and learnt how to identify the age of a tree by looking at the tree rounds, which can also identify which were the wet and dry years depending on the thickness of the rounds. Meantime, the students also pruned fruit trees (a very popular job!), and stirred and made peppers to keep away brush turkeys and bush rats.
