Class 5 Greek Olympics
Our Class 5 students recently enjoyed reenacting the ancient Greek Olympics.
On Monday the Glenaeon and Kamaroi Class 5 students, parents and teachers met at the beautiful west Willoughby oval to celebrate the ancient Greek Olympics.
Organised in the four city states of Athens, Sparta, Thebes and Corinth, the students competed with friendly spirit in long jump, discus, javelin, wrestling, marathon running (400m), 100m sprint and in 4x100m relay races.
It was an incredible day of great achievements, fine food, dance, song, music, poetry and a welcome ceremony featuring the ancient God Zeus who came down from the hills to declare the games open.
All went well and 60 medals were won alongside ribbons celebrating sportsmanship, grace & beauty and determination. All students went home with a token of recognition of their achievements!
The Greek Olympics is a true Steiner community event in which parents, class teachers, other teachers and the students in our care create something wonderful and unique that will linger in their memories for a long time.
A big thank you to all who contributed to this fine day!
