Here are Lindsay, Catherine and Kristy stirring the vortex.

Preparation 500 is basically fermented cow dung. It is the basis, in Biodynamic farming, for soil fertility and the renewal of degraded soils. It's usually the first preparation used during the changeover to a farming organic/biodynamic system.

Prepartion 500 is made by filling a cow's horn with cow dung, and burying it in the soil during the cooler months.

Horn manure is also prepared by the upper primary school children in their gardening lessons at Middle Cove.

‘Works on the earth. Encouraging expansion and levity, promoting germination, and assisting microorganism growth in the soil and root growth in the plant. Horn manure will also regulates lime and nitrogen content and aids the release of trace elements.’ Biodynamic Gardening by Hilary Wright.
