The opening night last Friday was an absolute triumph and Year 10 rose to the occasion with remarkable aplomb, wit and energy. They carried the story, lyrics and music with a style and at a level of excellence that brought the capacity audience to its feet with a roar at the end. The four performances were outstanding and a credit to the hard work and dedication of the students.
The people behind the show also worked incredibly hard to bring this one off and they all deserve a massive thank you from everyone: Director Liz Chan, Musical Director Manu Prasad, Production Design Sarah Sandberg with Evan Sanders and Alisan Smotlak, plus endless support from Guardians Jacqueline Rees and Jonas Stoebe, and Dani Finch as parent/staff member.
The parent body of the year group has been fabulous with so many parents putting in so many long hours and weekends over the past months, in everything from set building and prop construction to costume design and making, then to cooking and feeding 55 ravenous actors. Class Parents Aileen Beale and Kyle Harris have been the glue holding this army of supporters together and we thank each and every one for their contribution. The support has been massive and sustained, and the result was obvious on the stage over the past four shows, with a group of fulfilled and radiant young people working together to create an inspired and beautiful production. The magic they created on stage over those four shows is now only a memory, but a memory that will live on in all their, and our, hearts.
