Ella Pooley (2008)
Glenaeon welcomed back Ella Pooley (2008) as a student teacher in Term 3, 2014.
After spending five years at the University of Sydney studying a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts it was nice to finish off my degree at the place that fostered my love for learning. I have just spent the last seven weeks completing my internship at Glenaeon teaching both English and History. This is the third practicum I have done throughout my degree and it really solidified for me what I have always advocated – that Glenaeon provides a very unique and special education.
I was lucky enough to be involved in the Year 8 Shakespeare performance, it was truly amazing to see 13 and 14 year old students take on the enormous challenge of Shakespeare’s plays and take risks to create an incredible performance. I also had the absolute pleasure of working with the senior classes and was delighted that they were taking on the challenges of HSC and were beginning to seriously contemplate the society we live in and ask questions that show an emerging depth of understanding and critical curiosity.
All the classes that I worked with were interesting and dynamic. I feel so lucky that I was able to complete my teacher training at Glenaeon. I feel incredibly blessed to have been apart of, and learn from, the staff that shape the school I was fortunate enough to attend.
