EDUCATION FOR A
MEANINGFUL LIFE

Glenaeon is an independent, co-educational school catering for children from Preschool through to Year 12. For over 60 years, we’ve helped young men and women find meaning and direction in their lives. We embrace Steiner (Waldorf) Education, derived from the insights of Austrian-born philosopher, scientist, artist and educator Rudolf Steiner.

Our goal is to develop the physical, emotional and intellectual capabilities of the developing child through an age-appropriate curriculum that integrates the disciplines of movement, fine arts, and practical arts into the study of humanities, science, mathematics and technology. Through the development of these capacities, we strive to educate the child in a healthy and balanced manner and equip them with all the elements they need to lead a meaningful life.

AN INSPIRING
ENVIRONMENT

Glenaeon is situated on three campuses in Sydney’s lower north shore. Our Kindergarten and Class 1 and 2 are situated on a quiet, tree-lined campus at Castlecrag, with a playground made from natural materials. Our main campus at Middle Cove is located on three hectares of beautiful bushland grounds reaching down to Scotts Creek and Middle Harbour. Our Preschool is in a home-based Federation house and garden in Willoughby.

OUR HERITAGE

Glenaeon was founded in 1957 by Sylvia Brose OAM, out of a community around Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin. Their vision for a school of excellence, imagination and creativity, springing from the work of Dr Rudolf Steiner, remains the basis of everything we do.

MEANINGFUL LIVES IS OUR DNA

Leading a meaningful life isn’t something we’ve just thought up. It’s the foundation of everything we stand for, and everything we do. At Glenaeon, we’ve been promoting the importance of leading a meaningful life for over 60 years in our Mission, Vision and Values.

OUR MISSION

Through a complete education (academic, aesthetic, artisan, altruistic, and active wilderness), we equip students with all they need to lead a life of character and contribution.

OUR VISION

"Our highest endeavour is to develop young men and women who out of themselves are able to impart meaning and direction to their own lives."
- Dr Rudolf Steiner
